On Saturday 1st November 2025, the EDC Christchurch team swapped spreadsheets for spokes and took on the legendary Muddy Gumboot 6 Hour Blast at McLeans Island. This high-energy mountain bike relay saw teams race to complete as many 10.5 km laps as possible in six hours—testing endurance, teamwork, and a touch of engineering grit (as plastered on Sam’s face at the race end).
EDC fielded two enthusiastic teams and Sam Polson put in an impressive solo effort (13 laps and 9th out of 26 for his age class):
- Team 1: Tyler, Joe and Giles
- Team 2: Angus and Tim
The sun was shining, and the dust was flying. Together, they clocked an impressive 410 km.
Beyond the race, the team enjoyed a well-earned breather under a marquee borrowed from Angus’s rowing club. The event wasn’t just about competition; it was a chance to connect, recharge, and showcase EDC’s commitment to wellbeing and camaraderie.
A big shout-out to everyone who participated and supported the effort. With the WorkRide scheme making top-tier bikes more accessible, and spirits high, the team is already eyeing the podium for next year!
