About the role
Reporting to the Structural Team Leader in Christchurch, you will work as part of a collaborative professional team to deliver high-quality structural engineering services. You will take responsibility for day-to-day design, documentation, coordination and construction monitoring, while supporting the development of junior team members and building trusted client relationships.
Our projects
You will gain exposure to a broad range of residential, commercial and industrial work, including:
- Residential developments, from individual homes and high-end architectural residences to large subdivisions and multi-storey apartment buildings.
- New commercial buildings, including Importance Level 2 and 3 projects.
- Seismic assessments and strengthening of commercial, heritage and government buildings.
- Weathertightness and recladding projects for high-rise residential and education buildings.
- Industrial warehouses and factories incorporating long-span steel portal framing.
- Structural design and assessment of buildings from Importance Level 1 to 4 and up to seven storeys.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver structural design, analysis and documentation across steel, concrete, timber and masonry projects.
- Prepare calculations, reports, tender documents and fee proposals to a high technical and quality standard.
- Undertake site inspections, investigations and construction monitoring, and work through complex engineering challenges using first principles.
- Coordinate projects and build strong relationships with clients, contractors, architects, councils and EDC’s wider engineering teams.
- Support junior engineers and draughting staff, while contributing to repeat business and new opportunities.
About you
- A Washington Accord-accredited structural engineering qualification and at least three years’ New Zealand experience preferred.
- Practical design experience across steel, concrete, timber and masonry structures.
- Working towards CPEng, with strong technical judgement and knowledge of relevant New Zealand standards and engineering software.
- A confident communicator who can manage priorities, meet deadlines and build positive client and team relationships.
- The right to live and work in New Zealand and a full, clean New Zealand driver licence.
