Requirement:

Inspection of Rock Bolts supporting a Swing Bridge in the Te Urewera National Park.

Challenges:

  • Location deep in the Ureweras.
  • Difficult to test the Anchors.

Challenges met:

  • Travel by 4WD vehicle fording rivers and then by foot..
  • Engineering Geologist observed the location of the anchors and made visual assessment of rock.
  • Engineering Geologist also observed the surrounding cliff faces to search for an alternate location.
