TE ATATU FIRE STATION
Fire stations are strategically located and require council, the private sector and the local community to work cohesively throughout. For the Te Atatu fire station, this process was greatly assisted by employing a multi-discipline engineering consultancy such as EDC.
Geotech investigation confirmed soft soils, ensuring the right foundations were set. The design provided structural engineering challenges, whilst large areas of impervious surfaces needed for heavy vehicles and staff parking, required a collaborative effort from EDC’s civil and environmental teams, who incorporated large areas of porous parking and rain gardens to mitigate storm water run-off.
EDC was able to provide a one-stop-shop for civil, geotech, structural and environmental engineering ensuring a seamless, cost effective and proactive approach throughout.
