A large warehouse unit was severely damaged from a fire, including a significant portion of the structural steel being physically deformed. EDC provided guidance on which steel elements could be reinstated and which steel elements needed to be replaced. EDC also provided advice on fire safety feature upgrades to the building that would result in compliance with required standards.
We used our dual skills in fire and structural engineering, bringing synergy to a solution that resulted in a large portion of the existing construction being retained; ultimately saving the client money, while also improving the compliance with the fire safety requirements in the New Zealand Building Code.
