EDC has a proud history with social/emergency housing initiatives, and we are delighted to continue contributing to the supply of healthy and safe homes.

Two apartment blocks on this site made use of some modern materials, including CLT floors, panel-type walls and foam insulation, to achieve a Homestar 6 rating. EDC’s fire design advice included material compliance, junction detailing and timber charring calculations to help make this innovative design a reality, without compromising fire safety.

It was great to see this project develop during Construction Monitoring just a few blocks away from our Christchurch office, and we were glad to support modern sustainable building materials like CLT as we head towards a future of ‘embodied carbon’ and MBIE’s Building for Climate Change Programme.
