EDC Auckland is pleased to welcome Sarah Maetzig to join our Structural and Civil teams. Sarah has just completed her BEng (Civil) in Auckland where she studied predominantly structural papers so she could develop her career as a Structural engineer. For her 4th year project Sarah investigated the surface preparation effects on the seismic behaviour of the Asymmetric friction connection in the Sliding Hinge Joint.
This provided Sarah with an understanding of how seismic behaviour affects buildings and the methods that are being proposed to maintain building serviceability post-earthquake.
Sarah is originally from Te Aroha but has spent the last 4 years in Auckland while her family have worked in Christchurch helping with the rebuild.
Sarah completed her summer internship with us last year and her enthusiasm for all things new is greatly appreciated.
Outside of work Sarah enjoys skiing and relaxing at the family home in Coromandel.
