On Saturday 2 November, a few members of EDC Christchurch geared up, mounted their WorkRide bikes (https://www.workride.co.nz/), and took on the epic Muddy Gumboot Relay—a 6-hour mountain biking marathon designed to test endurance, teamwork, and a good sense of humour! Our mission? Rack up as many 10.2km laps as possible in six hours.
Here’s how our two teams stacked up:
🌟 spEDC (Sam & Tyler) – 13 laps, placing 35th out of 149 teams and 4th in the engineering/architecture category!
🌟 Eating Dust Constantly (EDC) (Angus, Giles & Matt) – 12 laps, landing 73rd overall and 15th in the division!
Together, that’s a massive 255km! Not bad for a day’s ride (and a bit of mud!). But it wasn’t all race pace and hill climbs. We enjoyed some downtime with a BBQ when the wind provided some thrills of its own. Shoutout to Matt for saving our marquee from an unplanned flight…
Here’s to more miles, mud, and maybe a podium next year! 🥈🥇
