The EDC Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Giles Learman as Director at Engineering Design Consultants Ltd.
Giles is a professional Geotechnical Engineer with 20+ years of experience in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
Immigrating from the UK to NZ in March 2012, he joined EDC to work as a Senior Geologist/Geotechnical Engineer and experience life in New Zealand.
He has gained experience from working in a wide range of development sectors including; residential, industrial, commercial, infrastructure, rail and defence.
Giles is a Chartered Fellow of the Geological Society of London and is skilled in geotechnical and contaminated land investigation, groundwater quality assessment, slope stability assessment, liquefaction assessment, ground improvement, land remediation, pile design, retaining wall design, foundation appraisal, ground settlement/consolidation, project management, public consultation, Expert Witness, assessment of ground gas and design of gas protection and negotiation with regulators.
This appointment is testament to Giles’ strong leadership skills, proven managerial ability and engineering expertise that will complement and add considerable value to our Board, and came into effect as of 26 October 2022.
Together, we wish him many happy and prosperous years at the helm of EDC along with Gareth Williams and Sam Polson.
